It is involved in male courtship behavior for the engagement of the female - proboscis extension, followed by abdominal bending, then foreleg lifting (McKellar et al., 2019. Activation also causes simultaneous movement of all legs prior to the engagement sequence (McKellar et al., 2019. It expresses the male isoform of fruitless (McKellar et al., 2019.
